Koronadal City, August 8- In a significant step towards wildlife conservation, a total of 10 wild animals were released back into their natural habitat in the Strict Protection Zone (SPZ) of AVPL, 4 kilometers from the nearest community, Sitio Kanko, Brgy. Lamlahak, Lake Sebu.
PENRO Rosalinda Cortez confirmed that the release included 6 Philippine Long-tailed Macaques (Macaca fascicularis), consisting of 3 males and 3 females, along with 4 Reticulated Pythons (Malayopython reticulatus).
Mr. Aljohn Saavedra, AVPL EMS II noted that the remote location was carefully chosen to ensure minimal disturbance to the wildlife as they re-acclimate to their natural environment.
Ronald Lacanaria, CDD EMS II remarked that the release event was the result of a collaborative effort of multi-stakeholder involvement in wildlife conservation, demonstrating a shared commitment to preserving biodiversity and protecting endangered species.
The release was spearheaded by the Conservation and Development Division (CDD), representatives of the Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) of the AVPL alongside MENRO Lake Sebu and members of the local community. (Jeatrin V. Oro)
